Property Walks & Assessments

A property walk is an opportunity to better understand the living landscape of your land.

With time and careful attention, even a familiar property can reveal an extraordinary range of trees, shrubs, vines, and wild plants — each with its own role in the broader ecosystem.

Learning to recognize these plants brings greater clarity, appreciation, and often a deeper sense of responsibility for the land itself.

What's Included

During an on-site visit, Carrie will walk the property with you and help you begin to see it in a new way. Together, you will:

  • Identify trees and plants across the property

  • Distinguish between native, non-native, and invasive species

  • Highlight unusual, notable, or ecologically significant plants

  • Discuss plant communities, habitat patterns, and seasonal changes

  • Explore how the landscape functions as a whole

These walks are conversational and observational, designed to meet you where you are and build understanding step by step.

Who This Is For

Property walks are especially valuable for:

  • Homeowners who want to better understand their landscape

  • Landowners managing natural or wooded areas

  • Conservation-minded individuals and groups

  • Schools, organizations, and properties with educational or ecological interest

No prior knowledge is required — only curiosity and a willingness to look more closely.

A Step Toward Stewardship

Understanding what grows on your land is often the first step toward caring for it more intentionally.

As you become familiar with the plants present, you may begin to notice patterns — which species are thriving, which are struggling, and where invasive plants may be spreading. This awareness can lead to more thoughtful decisions about planting, maintenance, and long-term care.

For many people, a property walk becomes the beginning of an ongoing relationship with the land.

Fees

Typical fee range: $250–$500, depending on property size and scope.

In some cases, Carrie may choose to donate her time or offer reduced fees for nonprofit, educational, or conservation-focused work.
